Het Amerikaanse fregat USS Constitution uit 1797 is het oudste nog drijvende marineschip in actieve dienst. Bij de tewaterlating gleed het maar 8 meter en bleef toen steken; pas na een maand verbouwen lukte het.

The American frigate USS Constitution of 1797 is the oldest commissioned warship still afloat. At its launch it slid only 8 metres and got stuck; it took a month of rebuilding before it finally reached the water.
