Accepted Answer

The Super Bowl has used Roman numerals (Super Bowl I, II, III...) since 1971 — but not all. Super Bowl 50 (2016) was Latin "50" because L (50) looked "too marketing-thin" according to the NFL. Afterwards it returned to Roman (LI, LII...). Marketing trumped tradition.
