Plato's grot-allegorie (c. 380 v.Chr.): mensen zitten geketend in een grot en zien alleen schaduwen van objecten op de wand. Voor hen ZIJN die schaduwen de echte wereld. Eén ontsnapt en ziet de zon — maar als hij terugkeert om de anderen te bevrijden, geloven ze hem niet en willen hem doden.

Plato's allegory of the cave (c. 380 BC): people are chained in a cave and only see shadows of objects on the wall. For them those shadows ARE the real world. One escapes and sees the sun — but when he returns to free the others, they don't believe him and want to kill him.
