Question

Did you know? Mariner 10 (1974) was the first space probe to visit multiple planets — with a slingshot from Venus to Mercury. By coincidentally choosing the right orbit, it also proved that gravity assists work — a technique every outer-planet mission still uses today.

Accepted Answer

Mariner 10 (1974) was the first space probe to visit multiple planets — with a slingshot from Venus to Mercury. By coincidentally choosing the right orbit, it also proved that gravity assists work — a technique every outer-planet mission still uses today.
