Ai Weiwei vulde in 2010 de hele Turbine Hall van Tate Modern met 100 miljoen porseleinen zonnebloempitten — elk met de hand beschilderd door 1.600 ambachtslieden in het Chinese Jingdezhen. Bezoekers mochten er aanvankelijk overheen lopen — tot men ontdekte dat het stof giftig was.

In 2010 Ai Weiwei filled the entire Turbine Hall of Tate Modern with 100 million porcelain sunflower seeds — each hand-painted by 1,600 craftspeople in Jingdezhen, China. Visitors were initially allowed to walk on them — until the dust was discovered to be toxic.
