Gustav Klimts "De Kus" (1907-1908) is geschilderd in zijn beroemde "gouden periode": Klimt mengde echt bladgoud door de verf. Het werk hing slechts één jaar in zijn atelier voordat de Oostenrijkse staat het kocht — voor het toen astronomische bedrag van 25.000 kronen.

Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss" (1907-1908) was painted in his famous "golden period": Klimt mixed real gold leaf into the paint. The work hung in his studio for just a year before the Austrian state bought it — for the then astronomical sum of 25,000 crowns.
