Hannah Arendt schreef over Eichmann (1961-process): "de banaliteit van het kwaad". Eichmann was geen demonisch monster maar een saaie bureaucraat die nadacht over carrière en deadlines, niet over slachtoffers. Het kwaad zit vaak in de niet-doordenkende ambtenaar.
